Sergio Rojas, the coordinator of the operation, highlighted the effort made to expand the train's capacity due to the large number of donations received. Neighbors from various localities joined the cause, demonstrating the solidarity of the Argentine people in times of crisis.
After 72 hours of tireless donations, the "Solidarity Train" departed from the Constitución station with twelve wagons filled with aid for the areas affected by the floods in Bahía Blanca. The train carries food, clothing, footwear, and other essential supplies, and will make stops in Cañuelas, San Miguel del Monte, and Las Flores to load more donations before reaching its destination.
This is the forty-first trip of the "Solidarity Train," an initiative originated in 2001 by the magazine Rieles to promote the use of the railway for humanitarian purposes. Over the years, it has transported more than 850,000 kilos of donations and has the support of railway unions, Trenes Argentinos, and other entities in the sector.
"We don't know if it's a lot or a little, but it's something," said Silvia, one of the donors who contributed to the cause. Once the cargo reaches its destination, it will be transferred in municipal trucks to ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most.
